HOLISTIC URBAN EMPOWERMENT
After School Progams
Recognizing the need for dynamic and engaging programs outside of the classroom are key components of our after school program. "Stop drop & read", computer skills, peer mentoring and life skills necessary for social enhancement are a few highlights of the program.
Our 7 week summer camp provides up to 90 children and youth with fun, educationally- based and age-appropriate activities, including art, music, sports, recreation, life skills workshops, guest speakers, community service activities, and weekly field trips.
The StreetLeader Program employs high school students as counselors, tutors, and mentors for the children who attend our after school programs and summer camps. As a StreetLeader teens receive extensive job training, tutoring and the opportunity to make positives changes in there community
and Achieving Together
Unique to Urban Promise Miami, C.H.A.T is a FREE on-site counseling and evaluative service which is critical to overcoming trauma and negative influences for inner city children.
Urban Promise Miami was founded in 2010 by best friends Ana Ojeda and Kristy Nunez. It is based on the successful model pioneered in Camden New Jersey.
We are passionate about empowering our neighborhood youth into reaching their potential despite the odds against them. Our children face a multitude of challenges including but not limited to: poverty, hunger, domestic violence, abuse, trauma, fatherlessness (nearly 80% of our kids lack a stable male role model), violent crime, drugs, gangs, lack of emotional, academic and social support. We take a holistic approach to support our children by instilling education, mentors, life skills, leadership opportunities and financial guidance.
To restore hope and promise to at-risk communities
To serve at-risk families by providing space to dream, grow and become leaders in their communities
At Urban Promise Miami we form a safe and supportive environment to equip Miami’s inner city children and young adults with the necessary skills to attain academic achievement, life management, and leadership skills. Our mission goes far beyond only meeting the current needs of low-income communities, in fact enabling our students and families with educational, life, emotional and problem-solving skills to provide lifelong outcomes.
